Action Alerts
Goal 11 of the Growth Management Act reads: Citizen participation and coordination. Encourage the involvement of citizens in the planning process and ensure coordination between communities and jurisdictions to reconcile conflicts. To meet this goal, counties and cities must set up a public participation process when considering land use policies and development regulations. As such, public notification, open houses, informational meetings and public hearings are required to educate, inform and hear from the public.
Given the importance of legislative matters, Futurewise and Pilchuck Audubon Society send out action alerts to their databases to help inform the public of the issue and to help the public participate.
